After all , I am a Slumber jack


Aloha!!I am back from a self-imposed exile(my torpid nature makes me do the evil things...),although i was looking for a totalitarian regime who could lend me a despot..but then i am too good for myself..Speaking of myself,nothing much has changed in the past 7 months...It just happened to be that i visited rishikesh ,port blair,tirupati,puducherry and chennai..phew..I won't be able to report daily diary entries out here,but the common emotion i felt during all the trips is the thing i would stress here.Incidentally,the best of India is visible only when you take a road trip through its hinterland.Looking out the window ,somewhere past tiruvallur,tamil nadu, i gazed at an dhaba owner,(canteen in this part of the world), the moment lasted only a couple of seconds ,he was sweeping the floor and i was trying to comprehend his insignis in tamil.A thought blazed across my mind ,even after the years of anti-brahmin,anti hindi wave in his vilage he still manages to root for Our national cricket team(evident from a dhoni cut out),possibly sings our national anthem and served sattu(biharis have invaded this regions as well).In port blair, a place still recovering from the aftermath of tsunami and separated from the mainland but still a common thread of knowledge trends links with the rest of the nation...surely with billions scattered all over yet connected by some or the other obscure snippet of common intersest, no doubt this country has untapped potential.Problems of healthcare , education etc run amock and still the tenacity to face them is as strong as ever..may be Steps like teach for india (on the lines of teach for america), will surel let the slumberjacks of r nation wake up and the te resonsibilty in their own hand rather than bickering about the state's inefficacies.

Doodler gets to work..

So i have finnaly found my calling,(quzzing and studies kept aside).i have started cartooning(does this term exist??).Have a look...





Another one bites the dust...so long chanakya


When it comes to encroaching land, nobody beats our very own civic agencies.NDMC has been handed over the keys to yashwant place ,eponymously known as the chanakya cinema in chanakyapuri(where u find all the embassies),after a long legal tussle,in the supreme court .Along with it go the hallmark of Delhi ,Nirulas.Most probably a multiplex will come up in its place before the common wealth games.With decades-old cinema halls in the capital like Chanakya and Sangam set to be razed and rebuilt into multiplexes, the time is not far when multiplexes will outnumber single screen theaters. .Delhi's love affair started with it on December 17,1970 with the premiere of raj kapoor's 'Mera Naam Joker',and will call curtains with 'Welcome' and Aamir's new movie 'Taare Zameen Par'.Chanakya was solely responsible for introducing delhiites to akiro kurosawa and stanely kubrick,and nirulas made the kebab-munching,tandoori chicken loving couples to the delight of 'Love 21' ice cream.
It still remains my parents', uncles', aunts'.. Fav hangout zone.My tryst with it started with first show of Russel crowe's 'gladiator'.The place has that aura around it which is difficult to comprehend, i am in love with Central Delhi and every thing about it, i would like to preserve the old world feel about it.With malls spring up like jhuggi clusters,this calls for the landmarks of our capital to be preserved and 2021 master plan to be put into place (without accusations of appeasement,as with the 11th five year plan).Governing bodies should keep the interest of the public and their sentiments instead of going all guns blazing,chanting the slogan of Economic development.Malls don't reflect the growing middle class, instead they portray the insatiable desire of the babus to kill our city to fill their coffers.they forget that the 2010 games will last only 2 weeks but the infrastructure stays for quite sometime.
I bid my Adieu to yashwant place, along with innumerable memories of delhiites,u r taking away my dream of hosting my first date(someplace else will have that honor),may u rest in peace.amen.

The little rascals ,,one helluva movie



Yesterday morning ,after a lavish bath(once in a blue moon event..hehe), i switch on the TV and on HBO i get to see this amazing movie,"The Little rascals".The plot revolves around group of 6- year olds,led by Spankie ,"the he-mon wumen haters club"(thats how they spelt it).His best pal,alfaalfa switzer blows all caution to the wind,and starts dating darla,he is tried by his club and sentenced to guard their go-cart "blur"...As fate has it darla finds a rich hunk,waldo,son of donald trump,and their cart gets stolen.But every love story has a happy ending,watch it ,i wont spill all the beans.The story is an exceptional outline of the relationships as perceived by kiddos,and coupled with witty and hilarious jokes. The innocence and spontaneity has been brilliantly caught on camera and dosn't look fake.I give it 11/10 stars,A must watch for all age groups.
